And they (the females at least) just lost that with the tallest human female. Therefore, only the height remains as a difference. So the only things that made this race unique -physically- ( outside the animation, storyline, etc.) was its height and its tatoos. Except for males who have larger shoulder, the females look exactly like humans. The Norn sadly are identical to humans at first glance. A gray gnome with big ears, Golems and advanced technology? You create an Asura. An elf-plant-Na'vi-exotic-like humanoids? Sylvari. You want to play something 'normal'? Human. You want to play a fierce cat-looking creature? You roll as a Charr. True, but let's look at it the other way. The Norn live longer, they are physically stronger, They run faster (I know thats not true in game, but logically their size should give them an advantage), their society is much more martial, making them better warriors in average etc.īasically, you are given an option of a all around much better "human", that still looks just like a regular human. There are no disadvantages (yes I understand there are disadvantages in the game in terms of size in pvp but thats not about that). Norn on the other hand are better than Humans in every way. Gnomes are shorter and weaker but are much more intelligent. ![]() Elves are physically weaker than humans, but are more agile, and live longer. The problem I have with Norn is that they are better than humans in every way, unlike dwarves or elves or gnomes.įor example, Dwraves are as strong as humans, live longer, but are shorter, which means they run slower and other disadvantages. In fact, I wouldn't even be be bothered as much if they were presented as a different human race, but for some reason the fact that the most significant difference between them and humans is their size really irritates me. I honestly cant understand why they couldn't add more visual flavor to the Norn, making their bodies significantly different than humans, even if they left them looking similar. The devs made such a great variety of different and unique races, but for some reasons decided to add a race which looks identical to humans, basically having 2 human races. Unfortunately I was very disappointing about the Norn looking exactly like regular humans except larger. I was also not very excited about GW2 or researched anything about it, so my first experience with anything relating to the game was BWE3. While I used to play GW1 when it just came out, I didn't play any expansions, so I am not that knowledgeable about how they relate to the lore, or how they are supposed to look. )Īm I the only one who is very disappointed by the Norn design? The only way I could really get it to be more accurate is if I had a friend or more to abuse, but nobody seemed inclined to tear themselves away from "doing more fun stuff" and mocking my efforts. I suspect the Norn and Charr are slightly taller than shown overall, but the Human/Sylvari and Asura are all very close in comparison to each other. It was difficult because the camera changed with the different races and I couldn't line up the same angle, from head-on to looking slightly downwards. I used the line where the wall met the ground and the first set of brickwork up from the ground to scale the characters. This is as close as I could really get it. Females in silver, males in default gold.Warrior was a good default choice, as it showed legs and had a decent default shoulder armor option. ![]() The short models are also the skinniest body selection. The tall models are also the largest body selection (from the shoulders).Latest patch Dev tracker Guild Wars 2 Discordįor your purview, I give you all races, genders and sizes!
